What is the 'make over my loo from one flush to two' toilet replacement program? City West Water is making it easier for customers to replace their single flush toilet by subsidising the costs to upgrade to a 4-star WELS rated Australian made dual flush toilet.
This offer includes:- Full Installation by a qualified plumber
- Your choice of toilet from three water efficient dual flush models
- A saving of around 48% compared to what you'd usually pay including a $100 upfront rebate
- And a saving of up to 35,000 litres of water every year!
Why is City West Water offering this service? Buying and installing a new dual flush toilet can be expensive, so City West Water is offering a subsidised toilet replacement service.
What sort of water savings can I expect? Toilets are the third biggest users of household water. On average, a single flush toilet uses around 12 litres of water per flush. A 4-star water efficient dual flush toilet uses less than half the amount. By switching you will save up to 90 litres of water per household, per day which will help to secure Melbourne's water supply and keep you on track to meet Target 155.
What does the 4-star rating mean? Under the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Scheme, products are rated according to their efficiency. The more stars a product has the less water it uses and most, best practice water efficient products hold a 4-star rating.
What is the cost? There are three toilet suites available, in a standard, mid-range and premium price range. The cost will depend on the model chosen. Costs include installation, replacement and removal of the old toilet and an upfront $100 rebate, and are inclusive of GST.
| Toilet model: | What you pay: (Inc GST and upfront $100 rebate) | You'll save up to: |
| Stylus Symphony Connector Suite | $284 | $250 |
| Concorde Profile Connector Suite | $427 | $320 |
Caravelle Close Coupled Suite | $513 | $470 |
How does the rebate work? To save you time and money, a $100 Water Smart Gardens and Homes Rebate from the Victorian Government has been applied so you won't need to fill in any forms. This will be shown on the receipt. Only one rebate per household is allowed, in accordance with the current rebate terms and conditions.
Can I have more than one single flush toilet replaced? Yes. You can have more than one toilet replaced but the $100 rebate will only apply for the first toilet. Subsequent toilets will be charged at the subsidised price but will not attract the rebate (therefore will be $100 more). If you have more than one property, (for example you are a landlord), you may receive a rebate for each eligible property that you receive a water bill. In some circumstances where you own a multi dwelling and your property is tenanted and your tenants pay usage, you are eligible to upgrade each individual single flush toilet including the $100 rebate per toilet.
How do I pay? TThe plumber will issue a receipt after installation and payment needs to be then made by cash, credit card, EFT or cheque.
